How to Stay Motivated While Working Remotely

There’s nothing quite like getting work done from the comfort of your own home and at Arnold Street Media, Inc., we love the occasional #workfromhomewednesday. The freedom of being able to work next to your furry friend, save yourself a commute, and take breaks whenever you please are just a few of the many perks that come with working from home.

But let’s face it, sometimes you can get a little too comfortable working from home and lose motivation to do what you’re supposed to be doing. Luckily for you, we’ve picked up a few tips and tricks along the way and today we’re revealing how to stay motivated while working from home.

Set Up A Working Space

Even though it’s very tempting to stay in bed all day when you’re working from home, it’s imperative that you separate your work life from your home life. If you work from bed all day, you’re much more likely to want to relax as opposed to getting actual work done.

Instead, opt to set up an office-like space where you’re much less prone to taking a nap or eating those snacks that are just around the corner.

Get A Routine Going

Humans are creatures of habit, and the habits you put in place can help you get through your work day much more efficiently. If you don’t have a routine in place, things can get out of hand pretty quickly and those deadlines you need to meet will become overwhelming.

Schedule out your day and get into the habit of starting out your day right by waking up early, getting some exercise in, and eating a healthy breakfast. You definitely won’t regret it!

Minimize Distractions

From Instagram, to Facebook, to Twitter, the distractions from your various social media accounts can put a real damper on your level of productivity. It’s nearly impossible to not glance at your phone and open social media apps once you hear that notification ding.

To combat this issue, sign out of your social media accounts before starting your shift or put your phone on silent.

Take Breaks When Needed

While taking a break may seem counterproductive, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Taking a much-needed break can actually increase productivity and help to keep you on track.

If you find yourself battling against mental blocks, take a short break and get back to work once you can think more clearly. The quality of your work will be much better that way!

Reward Yourself

Sometimes you need to have a light at the end of the tunnel to motivate yourself to get the job done. Plus, you deserve to treat yourself after a hard day’s work!

Whether it be meeting friends for a drink, having a three-day weekend, or watching a good movie, set something up to reward yourself once you get all your work done.

There you have it – all the ways to stay motivated while working from home. Now you’re all set to successfully work as a digital nomad (and keep your boss happy)!
